Local Gay Columnist Dane Hall Launches
"Pride Perspective" column in local newspaper
"Thank you, Evil Bush," is how local columnist Dane Hall
launched his re-entry into local Asbury Park newspaper columns today.
Pointing to the way that the Bush political team used gays and
lesbians and the issue of gay marriage in last November's general
election, Hall wrote, "By slicing this country down the middle
with a social cleaver, [Bush] had smiled in victory as many of us,
Americans, lay gaping and bloodied." (see our home page for more

Tickets are on sale now for The Laramie Project directed by Nick
Montesano and presented by NENA Productions at the Jersey Shore Arts
Center in Ocean Grove. Performance dates are Fridays and Saturdays
February 4, 5, 11 and 12 at 8pm, and Sunday February 13 at 3 pm. Each
performance will feature an audience talkback with the cast. And at
the performance of February 5th, Romaine Patterson, a close friend of
Matthew Shepard, and a prominent character in the play, will join the
talkback. All tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Starving
Artist Box Office, 47 Olin Street, Ocean Grove or by phoning (732)

Saturday, February 5th brings the return of two very popular
events.

First up, Wachovia Securities and
GayAsburyPark.com will host a seminar on the
Legal and Financial
issues gay and lesbian couples face now that they can take
advantage of New Jersey's Domestic Partner Act. The seminar will be
given by two presenters -- a financial advisor and an attorney. The
topics of discussion will include: estate, tax and retirement
planning; adoptions and second parent adoptions; how to take advantage
of recent tax laws; health care decisions; growing and preserving
wealth; the future of marriage and domestic partnership. The seminar
is free and open to everyone. Location: Black Box Theater, 605

Later that night, the downtown gang brings you
the return of
First Saturday Night when Downtown Asbury Park
comes alive as over 30 businesses band together to celebrate Mardi
Gras and keep their doors open until 10 pm for a celebration of
community spirit. All throughout the business district you can enjoy
live music, DJs, wine and horsd'oeuvres, dining deals, art shows,
exclusive discounts from retailers, giveaways, open houses and loft
