Thank you "cyberbuss"
We are concerned on the BOE that the city officials are planning to
build a significant number of housing units on the Springwood Avenue
corridor, whether they are low income or not. We just need to plan
for the additional students and what that would mean to our schools.

We are planning on building a new elementary school over in that
area, but that's based on the needs of our existing students in our
over-crowded elementary schools.

With all the housing units that will be built in the beach-front
redevelopement area or on Springwood Avenue, we have to have a long
term plan for schools to accomodate the children that will move into
Asbury Park.

And I know there are many out there that are saying that anyone who
can afford the beach-front condos won't be sending their children to
Asbury Park Schools. That may be true today, but what about 5, 10, 20
years from now?

This Board of Education is dedicated to insuring that we have the
best schools and that the children of Asbury Park have the best
opportunities to excel in life thru their education. There is no
reason we can't reach these goals.

We need to plan properly though. I may not have suggested to send a
letter of protest or rebuttal to the A.P.P., but that doesn't mean
that I'm not constantly asking these questions and having these
discussions with our elected city council and city manager.

The BOE & City officials need to continue working together for the
good of our city's future.

Robert DiSanto
President of the Asbury Park BOE
