Joe, as you usual you pick up on non-essential issues. Thank God the gay community "took over" if tha is what you call it. They have played a large part in the ressurgence of this city. >I've even heard rumor that New Yorker's from Brooklyn are buying up >property in Asbury Park for "investment purposes." Imaging that! I think you got it wrong, they are buying it to live here in a few years. > There was an interesting presentation at last night's City Council meeting put on by officials from Neptune. (That's the town that borders us where "Those pesky Methodists took over whole sections" back a really long time ago)... Anyway the officials were there as a courtesy to Asbury Park to present their plans for the Neptune section of Springwood Avenue... They talked about how the relatively small 3.5 block stretch of that one street had just received planning board approval AFTER SEVEN YEARS OF WORK!! You want us to use Neptune as the measuring stick? Sorry, but I think most of us have higher standards. > Compare that to the three years it took to go from MOU to shovels and I don't know how anyone can label the level of activity on the waterfront as "waste is being laid on AP"... > > All anyone has to do is open their eyes to see two large-scale construction sites and a major infrastructure plan in progress. There's another whole-block project "minutes" away from launch (Metro Home) and other developers (who are not orthodox jews) are actively working on the former Salvation Army block. Yes, I know those folks involved in the Salvation Army block. The council is impeding them. Guess what? The 3/4 projects you describe are entities other than Asbury Partners. What progress do you see on the things Asbury Partners is responsible for, namely Casino, CH, etc.? Perhaps you should see Skip's site and posts for updates. Is the paint dry yet Skip? While you're at it Joe, why don't you explain APAC's endorsement of the Asbury Partners trio on the city council? Can you defend Loffredo's public reversal of his position on the Triangle? Don't you think Asbury Partners got to him? Big deal, we have some new condos going up after 4 years (from MOU). That is a real tough feat to have accomplished considering the real estate market over this period and the fact that they will be fronting the waterfront. Private developers and homeowners in this town did more and did it first. Yahoo!
