The Asbury Park Historical Society will hold the first of an annual event entitled Houses of Worship Walk in Asbury Park. This endeavor is an effort to promote unity within the community of Asbury Park, and to highlight some of the many historically significant religious enclaves within our area. The approximately half-mile Walk will highlight these magnificent buildings, and the history behind them. There are five participating churches that will each conduct individual tours, including discussions regarding their history, as well as organ and choir music. Each church will include approximately twenty minutes of information/music. The numerous churches in Asbury Park play a critical role in leading the continued renewal of the city. All churches in town are being asked, if they have bells, to ring them at 1:00pm to show unity. The Walk will begin at Holy Spirit Church (Second Avenue & Bond St.) promptly at 1:00pm (so get there early for tickets!) and participants will continue together as a group to visit four additional churches, ending at Trinity Church (Asbury Ave. & Grand Ave.). The participating Houses of Worship are as follows, in order of visitation: Holy Spirit Church (Second Ave. & Bond St.) First Baptist Church (Third Ave. and Grand Ave.) First United Methodist Church (First Ave. and Grand Ave.) Atonement Lutheran Church (First Ave. & Heck St.) Trinity Church (Asbury Ave. & Grand Ave.) All proceeds will benefit The Asbury Park Historical Society and The Boys & Girls Club of Asbury Park. A reception will follow at Trinity Church, which will include singing from The Boys & Girls Club Choir and light refreshments. Tickets will be sold on the day of event, at the starting point, Holy Spirit Church. The event will be held rain or shine! Please join us! Yahoo!
