During my wandering around the Pride event yesterday a local political
activist friend of mine told me about the "anti-gay evangelical group that was
handing out water." I went over to their tent, asked them what they were
doing and they said, "we're just handing out water to people, doing God's
ministry, no strings attached." I was then introduced to the pastor from
their church and we had a nice, brief conversation. I welcomed them to AP
and thanked them for handing out the water. They didn't preach, try to
convert, or offer any anti-gay message. Then my friend commented as we
walked away that, "they're not doing anything here, but I heard there website
has real anti-gay stuff on it."
I just did a very quick read through their site and didn't find anything
anti-gay. I note my perusal was quick, so I am open to feedback from
anyone that does a more in-depth read.
In short, from what I experienced and read, they seemed like good people,
doing good outreach.
Peace, JWK
