the old adage hangs true:
a liberal is a conservative who's been arrested
a conservative is a liberal who's been mugged
the whole country was mugged today. I spoke to many people, and
can't find one person who agreed with Justices Stevens, Souter,
Breyer, Ginsberg, and Kennedy.
The bottom line is, you have to take a look at your property, and
decide if your use is in the best way that maximizes tax revenues
for your city. If not, the city has the right to take your property,
and give it to a developer.
New London didn't even have the dignity to be categorized as
blighted. A developer decided they could provide more benefits than
the residents: sort of like somone outbidding you for the use of
your wife or significant other, then offering $2 million for the use
of him/her for a night.
remember this decision when Rehnquist & O'Connor look to retire this
year.
