Anything I didn't know, I would ask the attorney on the board for clarification of an issue, etc., and we had very GOOD counsel. There ARE gray areas in some instances, but not very many. I still have my book if you'd like to have it. Will deliver it to you, chop, chop! I had also very good mentoring by members of the board and for many just "lurking" out there and not responding, my mentor was John Loffredo. I really didn't know him personally, was told a lot of negative statements about him, but he and I hit it right off, he took me under his wing and I thought he was a forthright, honest and caring person. I am not saying this willy-nilly; I really like him as a person, a human being and a person who cares about Asbury Park. I don't know if he's changed because I am very seldom on hand at the Council Meetings, because I have other committments. In other words, I can't be in 2 places at the same time. So you won't hear me griping about the council, although, I mistakenly criticized them and shouldn't have. I am like St. Thomas and only believe what I see! I no longer participate in character assassination, because criticism only hurts, not help. I would really like to know which "plan" IS the plan. What I read here, causes me to lean toward some opinions posted here instead of going to the source! No more! Unless I read that they have committed/or Not, a crime or made a mistake, because we're ALL human, I will meet with them one on one to hear what they have to say. I have had good report with them and don't see them as a threat. What our problem is, is, our Council really need to ask the hard questions to these developers about how their involvement in the affairs of this city should be clear! No ifs, ands, buts, or maybes. All of our lives are at stake here and if a councilman doesn't have the answer to a question posed, they should get a clarification if possible and get back to the individual asking. This makes government in the form it is here, clearer. Nothing against Terry Reidy, but I wish we had a government where the Mayor and Council ruled. Just my opinion. Since Terry lives here, I wish HE would run! He has the qualifications, loves the City and the people, has proven to me that he is deciding what's right for this city, is on the right track, etc. Our Mayor is overshadowed by having a City Manager and what I mean is, HE may have decided how things should be run, but someone else gets all the credit! Unfair in my opinion. I think Jim Keady is the shot in the arm, our City needs, is very progressive and for the people. I hope being on the council doesn't change him. I respect all of the council because for a small city, they have a big job to do. It's easy for me to sit and criticize, so I've resolved that in 2006, I'll let their actions speak for themselves. No criticism from me! There are business owners in this City, that don't get the credit for trying. I mean there are lots of owners but not enough business! What can I do to promote Asbury Park? You know, my daughter, God bless her, gave me a huuuge birthday card back in August. On the front was a photo taken in 1969 of me on a Mardi Gras day in my hometown of New Orleans. She wasn't quite 2 years old, when it was taken. Inside was every phase of my life in photographs and my beloved Asbury Park was prominently displayed. She knows how much I love this town! It was like "This Is Your Life", played out on posterboard! So see, I want to see Asbury Park come back like the perfect Pearl it is! Asbury Park, "The Pearl of The Jersey Shore" Happy New Year Maureen! I think You and this City are GREAT!
