$125,000 State Grant Awarded to Middletown for Cultural and Arts 
Center

Senator Joe Kyrillos Jr., (R-13), announced today that the 
Middletown Township Cultural and Arts Center, which is currently 
under construction, has been awarded a state grant in the amount of 
$125,000.  The funding will be used for an accessible lift for 
persons using wheelchairs, special seating to accommodate persons in 
wheelchairs, an infrared audio system for the hearing impaired, 
barrier free dressing room counters, fine arts craft tables, 
adjustable easels, courtesy wheel chairs, and ramps for 
accessibility including access to the stage. 

"This grant will help make sure the wonderful programs that will 
take place at the Middletown Township Cultural and Arts Center will 
be available for everyone to enjoy," said Kyrillos.  

"We're very happy our counterparts in Trenton were able to provide 
some funding to help make the dream a reality," said Mayor Thomas G. 
Hall. "When the Cultural and Arts Center opens this summer, it will 
be a hub for a variety of arts-related activities in a centrally 
located part of the township."

The Middletown Township Cultural and Arts Center will be completed 
in spring 2006. The 23,000 square foot center will be a place for 
the community to participate in many activities, including 
performance and visual art classes, concerts, theatrical productions 
and more. The center will be the first indoor recreation facility to 
be added to the township since 1981

"The Middletown Township Cultural and Arts Center will be a showcase 
venue for the community," added Kyrillos.  "I am pleased that the 
state was able to provide funding to help complete the project.
