Dear Friends:
Last year on July fourth a new born was horribly desposed of in a garbage
can at the Long Branch Train station. This caused much grief and shock in
the residents of Long Branch.
Rev. Kevin Brown, local minister and activist was so heart broken that he
refrained from civic activisim the entire summer. One thing he did
however, was approach the City Council and plea on behalf of the unknown newborn
for compassion.
Police Investigation were unable to identify who did this and whom the
mother of this unwanted child was. Rev. Brown took it upon himself, to
adopt informally this little girl. Having three daughters and three
granddaughters of his own he asked the City Council to ceremonially grant a
name. By Long Branch Resolution Rev Brown named the child "Baby
Independence." and within the same resolution declared July Parent Awareness
Month.
Rev. Brown is planning a one year birthday celebration for Baby
Independence. A local merchant is allowing his lot for the party.
This will be on the day she apparently was born, Tuesday July 4. There
will be a BBQ and drinks and special activities, music, hot dogs, treats and the
theme in keeping with the resolution will be Family & Home. There will
be a Service of Memory for Baby Independence led by adoptive father Rev. Kevin
Brown.
Today's release is to inquire to all for volunteers to help with the
festivities. The Theme of family opens and opportunity for Family Based
organizations to either donate or lend a hand. The co - theme of Home will
also provide an opportunity for anti eminent domain abuse organizations to
participate.
The location for the First Birthday of Baby Independence will be Lower
Broadway, Long Branch. One block from the beach. Food and beverages
will be included and beer and wine for a minimal additional.
So Far in addition to Rev. Kevin Brown, we are planning on having
Assembleman Steve Corredemous attend, for his work in Safe Haven Awareness in
the Legislature. Mr. Bruce Mac Cloud, Mr. Lou Anzalone and Mrs. DeLuca for
their courage as survivors of eminent domain abuse and being great parents to
their own children. Others are being thought about as this
progresses. Feel free to suggest a name.
Rev. Kevin Brown is extending an invitation to all. To help in the
Celebration of the short moment of life for this precious little soul Baby
Independence.
