The AP City Council Meeting that is scheduled for this
Wednesday, August 2nd has been postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday,
August 9th. The reason for the postponement is so that the
Council may pay its respects to the Bruno family on the passing of Mrs. Pat Bruno,
the mother of Deputy Mayor James Bruno. Information about the services is below. Peace, JWK PATRICIA
A. BRUNO, 81, of OCEAN TOWNSHIP Posted by the Asbury Park
Press on 07/31/06 PATRICIA A. BRUNO, 81, of OCEAN TOWNSHIP, died Saturday, July 29,
at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Pat attended St. Elizabeth College at
Convent Station; she graduated from Kean University, and received her master's
in education from Rutgers University. She started her teaching career in Asbury
Park in 1965 and retired from the AP school system in 1993 as an administrator.
She was a founder of the A.P. Adult Learning Center in 1967 and implemented
various educational disciplines, New Jersey Youth Corps. of Asbury Park,
AmeriCorps, Displaced Homemaker and programs from the Monmouth County
Employment and Training. Pat was an advocate for the youth and adults of the
City of Asbury Park. She was principal of the Asbury Park Evening High School
and GED Programs (1972-1993) including Maecom and the Alternative high school.
Pat was named the Monmouth County Advisory Committee "Woman of the
Year" in 1991, and also in 1993 received the Congressional Achievement
Award for Outstanding Service to her Community. Pat was a communicant of Holy
Spirit Church, Asbury Park, and a member of its Catholic Daughters of America
Court and the Altar Rosary Society. She belonged to the "Shore
Sweets" Chapter of the "Red Hats" and also the St. Peter's
Fraternity of Point Pleasant Secular Franciscan Order. Pat was also an A.P.
Little League Women's Auxiliary Volunteer. She was born in Hoboken and summered
in Asbury Park before marrying and moving there in 1944. Pat was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, William
"Butch" Bruno, in 1981; by her parents, Caesar and Catharine
Badaracco; and by her sisters, Grace Dalesseo and Kathleen Bryant. Surviving
are her five children, William J. Bruno and his wife Jeannette of Howell, Pete
Bruno and his partner Kevin Glass of Howell, A.P. deputy mayor Jim Bruno and
his companion Jutta Kay of Asbury Park, Kathleen M. Celli and her friend David
Neville of Oakhurst, and Mary Pat Napolitano and her husband Stephen of Ocean
Township; a son-in law, Charles W. Celli of Neptune; a brother-in-law, Thomas
Bryant of Princeton Junction; a sister-in-law, Frances Bruno of Naples, Fla.;
and a dear friend, John Hayes of Atlantic Highlands. There are nine
grandchildren, Matthew Celli and his wife Nicole, Ralph, Amy and Kimberly
Napolitano, and Kyle, Eric, Gia and Christy Bruno; one great-grandson, Matthew
Celli; and four stepgrandchildren, Craig Jr., Cole, Manny and Petie. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at
Buckley Funeral Home, 509 Second Ave., Asbury Park. A Funeral Mass will be
celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Church, Asbury Park. Interment
will be in St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers, please donate to
