ASBURY PARK A routine motor vehicle stop turned into a major drug seizure Tuesday night, when the pursuit of a fleeing suspect led police to a stash of more than a pound of cocaine. The evening began with police stopping Damion S. Beeput, 26, in order to arrest him on an outstanding failure to appear warrant. After stopping his 2007 Cadillac Escalade, Beeput fled the vehicle and led police on a brief foot chase. During the chase, Beeput attempted to discard roughly seven ounces of cocaine, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Beeput was quickly caught and arrested. Kyle Johnson, 34, of Neptune, the front seat passenger in Beeput's SUV, was also arrested. Detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and Asbury Park Police Department continued their investigation and searched Beeput's two homes - one on Neptune Boulevard in Neptune Township, the other in Asbury Village, in Asbury Park. In these homes, investigators found more than a pound of cocaine - with a street value of between $15,000 and $18,000 - and a smaller quantity of heroin. Shaneele Booze, 27, who also lives at the residence in Asbury Park, was placed under arrest. Beeput, Johnson and Booze were each charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 500 feet of public housing, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,000 of school property, and possession of heroin. Beeput and Booze were also charged with possession of burglar's tools. The charges carry a range of penalties, with a maximum of 20 years in prison for possession of intent to distribute. Superior Court Judge Bette E. Uhrmacher set bail for Beeput at $1 million, for Johnson at $25,000, and Booze at $5,000. Beeput, Johnson and Booze were unable to post bail and are currently in the Monmouth County Jail. Yahoo!
