New Jersey also has more than 1,000 bridges considered obsolete, many
of which are reduced to carrying minimal loads and face replacement
or closure because they don't meet current standards for lane width
or other factors.

Together, those categories account for more than one-fourth of the
6,400 bridges in New Jersey that are at least 20 feet long.

Of the more than 7,000 county-owned bridges in New Jersey, these
spans have the worst structural ratings:
-- Court Street over Hackensack River in Hackensack City, Bergen
County.
-- Locust Avenue over Claypit Creek in Middletown, Monmouth County.
-- Doty Road over Ramapo River in Oakland, Bergen County.
-- Wilson Road over Bells Lake Branch in Washington Township,
Gloucester County.
-- Old Trenton Road over Big Bear Brook in West Windsor, Mercer
County.
-- Grand Avenue over Sunset Lake in Asbury Park, Monmouth County.
-- Asbury Avenue over Mingamahone Brook in Farmingdale, Monmouth
County.
-- Kingsland Road over Third River in Clifton, Passaic County.
-- Griggstown Causeway over Millstone River in Franklin, Somerset
County.
-- Maple Grange Road over Pochuck Creek in Vernon, Sussex County.
-- Route 649 over Pohatcong Creek in Washington Township, Warren
County.
