Subject: [AsburyPark] Conditional release for Werner today

After a one hour hearing in Municipal Court, Judge Apostolou this
morning signed a conditional release for Werner and a conditional
vacating of the sentence. The hearing was at times rather heated with
the judge relating the 12 year history of his courtroom encounters
with Werner. He warned that if certain conditions including a
voluntary interior inspection of Werner's home were not met, the
sentence would not only be reimposed, but perhaps extended to six
months. He approved a two page checklist of all things that must be
done starting with the most crucial. He thanked all of the people who
came forward (Tom DeSeno had a list of names and there were folks in
the courtroom as well. He cautioned all the friends that they must
practice "tough love" with Werner and insist that he conply with all
of the conditions. He also ordered that Werner with Tom in his court
EVERY week on Friday at 12:30 PM until further notice. It will not be
necessary for Tom to pursue any action in Freehold today other than
going to the jail with the order to release him (a process that takes
about 3 hours or so!). Hopefully Werner (nicknamed "Porch" in the Big
House) can relinquish his forest green jumpsuit this afternoon.
