Ok folks, read below carefully, and then think back to posts describing the
technology of
surveillence cameras installed in Newark and East Orange.
These cameras have microphones on them that are directional, and can move the
camera
to focus on the area where the gunshots originated.
This time, nobody was hit.
The police have no description.
The don't know where the shots were fired from.
8 spent shell casings. That could've been 8 dead people.
Meanwhile, we have to wait for paperwork and bureacracy to go thru the motions.
And people outside of Asbury will start condemming us once again.

ASBURY PARK — Police are trying to determine if someone fired a gun randomly or
if that
person was deliberately aiming at two boys when bullets struck a house and a
garage on
Church Street early this morning.

No one was injured in the incident.

Around 1 a.m., at least one bullet struck a house on the 600 block of Church
Street and
four more struck a garage on the same property, said Capt. David Kelso.

He said police are trying to determine if the shooting was random or if two
boys who were
in the area at the time were the targets of the shooter.

Kelso said police believe the shooter was on the street - not in a vehicle -
but police have
no description of that person.

Police recovered eight spent shell casings, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. Randall Hill or
Detective April Bird
at (732) 775-4025. Information can also be left anonymously on the department's
tip line
at 1-800-799-8280.
