Sorry to hear about your father in law.
I lost one of my parents to smoking.
I really don't get smoking. It has no redeeming qualities. Zero.
On the other hand, it kills people, and when it's not doing that, it causes a 
myriad of other 
health problems.
It's packaging tells people that it WILL harm them, but even that warning isn't 
enough.
It hurts other people thru second hand smoke.
It stinks.
And it's probably the only product in the world which comes with a built in 
littering factor. 
It's probably the most littered product ever created. Many smokers seem to 
think that the 
world is their ashtray.
And according to the smokers I know, it doesn't do much for them but to satisfy 
the 
craving that it creates. No buzz....nothing.
That all being said, why do people smoke?
