I have thought about the commute to midtown extensively, trust me.
The Academy Bus is the fastest. It also leaves from a Park and Ride
at 109 which takes 55 to 65 minutes. But, in the morning, if you
miss one bus, another may not come for 20 minutes.
>From here, it takes 30-35 minutes to get to Cheesequake, the bus
will come within 5 min, even if you miss one, the bus then takes 45
mins into Port Authority, which gives you access to all the subways.
