Anyone know if this guy's name is for real? A relative?

_Mid-Week Meanderings_
(http://rankandfilemonmouthrepublican.blogspot.com/2008/07/mid-week-meanderings.html)

I will admit that I have been too captivated by the postings on other blogs
to actually sit down and write anything of any substance this week. But, I do
feel obligated to weigh in or point out some pretty fun and interesting
stuff.

First, Mayor Pringle continues to inspire outrage and indignation among
those of Italian-American descent. The letters to the Editor of the APP and
“Op-Ed
” pieces from distinguished members of the Italian-American community decry
the use of the pejorative term “Guido”.

Tommy DeSeno, a proud Italian-American, will apparently address the Belmar
Borough Council tonight on behalf of Italian-American groups. I can only
assume that these are the same groups that protested the HBO series “The
Sopranos”
as being stereotypical and racist. (Never mind that the reality show “
Growing Up Gotti” was every bit as stereotypical, but received little
attention,
as it wasn’t a hit).

Here’s what I think:

1) Pringle was clearly not exercising good judgment.

2) Let’s get over it.

I note that while “Guido” is apparently a derogatory term, in today’s
Asbury Park Press was an advertisement for “Guido’s Pizza” of Eatontown. A
simple
google search of “Guido’s Pizza” turns up 158,000 hits. (Is it offensive to
call someone “Guido” if that is their given name?)

As bad a term as “guido” is, you don’t see many “Nigger’s Fried Chicken”*
joints out there.

Tommy, please copy me on those “cease and desist” letters to those 158,000
pizza joints.
