It was just a fluke that I saw it. I usually ignore all the glossy ads on the way to locating the table of contents. But the Wonder Bar double spread couldn't be ignored. I'm a fan of AMC's Mad Men series about Madison Avenue's 1960's ad men, so I tried to deconstruct what the ad agency is trying to do. Can't figure it out though: luxury leather tote for southern consumers is minimized; beautiful model and red car overshadowed by Asbury Park's Wonder Bar and Tillie. And why Wonder "Car"?
