Hmmm.

RED BANK — Borough Council members voted Wednesday night to charge $10
admission for adults to view the July 3 KaBoom fireworks and agreed to open
Count Basie Park earlier in the morning, to answer a request by residents for
more access.

The KaBoom admission fee was agreed on after Mayor Pasquale Menna and other
council members got assurances that children under age 10 would pay no
admission. Pricing will be $10 for adults and $5 for children over age 10 for a
prime viewing area in the park, which will hold 2,000 people.

A discount for early purchase will be offered by KaBoom. The first admission
charge for the five-decade-old fireworks display will help defray the cost of
presenting the show that draws up to 100,000 people. There will be no admission
charge in other borough parks to watch the fireworks.

The council also agreed to open Count Basie Park earlier than 7 a.m.,after West
Side residents requested an earlier time to accommodate people who want to walk
and exercise in the park before going to work in the morning. The council
agreed on a 5 a.m. opening time and sent a request for later evening hours to
the parks and recreation committee.
