first of all, congratulations to:
1. LOWELL was notified that her job would be discussed in closed session
Wednesday AND SHE ASKED IT BE DONE IN PUBLIC.
2. Board members Gregory Hopson, Gregory Brewington, Connie Breech and Sheila
Brazile asked that the resolution approving a law suit show that THEY OPPOSED
IT .... AND also asked that the public be allowed to speak to it before hand.
WELL IT SEEMS PRETTY CLEAR:
It was not clear why the board majority is after Lowell who is credited with
cleaning up a number of financial irregularities since being hired in 2008. She
has worked through that process with a succession of fiscal monitors assigned
to the district since November 2007 to get finances in order.
AND....
School Superintendent Denise Lowe reviewed a recent audit report saying those
issues still outstanding were being addressed by the district. Palmer said
removing Lowell was about keeping people accountable in their job. Lowell will
stay in her job while the challenge goes forward.
"I'm not going to do that,'' Palmer said.
