Representatives from community based organizations, government agencies, faith based groups, law enforcement, education, and interested community representatives are part of the initiative which is co-chaired by Mayor Ed Johnson and Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Huth. "The power of one caring adult can defeat any of the challenges that our young people face today. It is up to all of us to take an active part in the everyday lives of our children. Becoming a mentor is an exciting and meaningful way of doing just that" commented Mayor Johnson. Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is the lead agency for the mentoring initiative. BBBS has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As one of the county's largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, BBBS makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 6 through 18 and develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. Be a Big Brother or Sister - give a Little something back. You have an opportunity before you - to not only impact a child's life today, but to transform their potential for tomorrow. To become a mentor: * Be at least 21 years old for the Community-based program; * Live in Monmouth County; * Have a valid driver's license and access to a car with the minimum levels of insurance as required by State law; * Be able to make a commitment to share an activity with your mentee once a week or every other week for at least one year; and * Agree to work within and follow the organization rules and guidelines. To become a mentor, please contact William Salcedo at 732-544-2224 ext. 329 or at _wsalcedo@bbbsmmc.org_ (mailto:wsalc...@bbbsmmc.org) . _Forward email_ (http://ui.constantcontact.com/sa/fwtf.jsp?llr=q5ijkccab&m=1101737010128&ea=asburyst...@aol.com&a=1109452236016) (http://visitor.constantcontact.com/do?p=un&mse=001QlflZB9bhPw7M4qn5B9kjahWt9LbyVpv&t=001L5IfvLvaa0dylH_O6Vly1g==&reason=001IqezpQbqEsU=&llr=q5ijkccab) (http://www.constantcontact.com/index.jsp?cc=TEM_Basic_204) This email was sent to asburyst...@aol.com by _executivedirector@asburyparkchamber.com_ (mailto:executivedirec...@asburyparkchamber.com) | _Update Profile/Email Address_ (http://visitor.constantcontact.com/do?p=oo&mse=001QlflZB9bhPw7M4qn5B9kjahWt9LbyVpv&t=001L5IfvLvaa0dylH_O6Vly1g==&reason= 001IqezpQbqEsU=&llr=q5ijkccab) | Instant removal with _SafeUnsubscribe_ (http://visitor.constantcontact.com/do?p=un&mse=001QlflZB9bhPw7M4qn5B9kjahWt9Lb yVpv&t=001L5IfvLvaa0dylH_O6Vly1g==&reason=001IqezpQbqEsU=&llr=q5ijkccab) ™ | _Privacy Policy_ (http://ui.constantcontact.com/roving/CCPrivacyPolicy.jsp) .
