On Saturday October 27, 2012 THE CITY OF ASBURY PARK HAS ISSUED THE FOLLOWING CODE RED ALERT:
"If you have someplace to go, we suggest that at the very least, you start making arrangements today. We are anticipating that the more vulnerable areas of our city will be evacuated. The Shelters in our County are scheduled to open on Monday morning, although plans to open them sooner are under consideration pending available resources. The City will have a "reception center" at the Thurgood Marshall School located in the 600 block of Monroe Avenue (between Bond Street and Emory Street) where transportation will be provided to County shelters as soon as they are open. We anticipate severe wind and flooding in our low lying areas which include the waterfront, any areas around our lakes and the Springwood Avenue corridor, please take the necessary precautions. Please secure all items such as lawn and patio furniture or any other items that may be vulnerable to high winds.
