ASBURY PARK, NJ - The gourmet market and deli, The Speakeatery opened -
softly - last night in Asbury Park and proved to be an immediate hit.

The Speakeatery occupies the terrific space at 705 Cookman Avenue which
once housed Plan B restaurant, between Ocean Park Gallery and the new
ShowRoom. It's owned by Andrew Vermilyea in partnership with his father, Greg.
The Speakeatery will offer prepared foods and a deli. Eat-in or Take-out;
your choice but we're partial to the view from the front windows
overlooking Cookman Avenue which has boasts a comfortable seating counter
(cover
photo).
Sandwiches keep with a theme. They include the Angry Al Capone, and also
a "Gentleman" Al Capone, a Damn Yankee, The Bootlegger and The Flapper.
Soups and salads also get past door. (It's BYOB; head to LUSH down the street
if you want a pint with your grub.)
The Verlilyea name may ring a bell to downtown Asbury Parkers; Andrew's
sister Erica owns the eclectic Foolish Ginger across the street and a
little ways downCookman Avenue by words! Bookstore.
