Hi all I have uploaded installer packages for an upcoming release of ASCEND. Consider it to be a 'release candidate'. If you give in particular the Windows package(s) a test drive (there are 64-bit and 32-bit versions there), please let me know if you find any problems. http://sourceforge.net/projects/ascend-sim/files/ASCEND%20%28current%29/0.9.8/
The bugs we have solved in this release are here: http://bugs.ascend4.org/roadmap_page.php Plus the release includes some of the recent GSOC contributions such as from Aakash (observer functionality) and others. Not all the recent GSOC work is included yet, unfortunately. Also important is that we now have a 64-bit installer. This was not trivial to sort out. The installer once again checks for and downloads all needed dependencies, which you can install manually yourself first, if preferred. The installer also navigates an HTTP proxy if you're using one, so long as Internet Explorer knows about it. I have changed how IPOPT is packaged. I'm now including a self-compiled copy plus several dependency DLLs. Finally, I have repackaged the GTK+ libraries and they are now hosted on our SF.net project 'files' section. Any feedback on this would be great. You might want to first uninstall your old version of ASCEND if you have one. Also there is a candidate tarball which should allow building on other platforms. I am still testing on those. One issue looks to be that Ubuntu 12.04 no longer provides TkTable from its package repository, which means that we can't easily provide the Tcl/Tk GUI any more. I will probably remove from the installer unless there is a volunteer to help fix that.
