The file attached is a collection of commands with which I was able to install ASCEND4 on Ubuntu 12.04. Note the call "sudo dpkg -r blcr-dkms" which was needed because the blcr-dkms package that was apt-get'ed with coinor-libipopt-dev broke on install.
