You raise a valid concern although the problem lies beyond AsciiDoc because its DocBook and LaTeX that control the final PDF. AsciiDoc only translates the text into DocBook format. Still I am curious to hear what others may have to say, because your problem of writing one or two page documents that are not 'articles' or 'books' is not unique and maybe a solution exists that I am not aware of.
