This is a little hard to explain but I'll try. I've looked at the FAQ and read all that I can read and have not found anything on this. Maybe it's under something I've not thought of.
Anyhow, here's what's happening. I've used index -C to clear everything. I've then pulled in all of the URL's that I wish to index using index -i -f filename.txt. For all intents and purposes, from what I can tell, that should give me a totally new indexing session which should index the entire file from scratch. I've set the config file to 12 hops and a max of 5000 docs per site. When I run, using index -N 30, it only takes about 20 minutes and it's done. I've tried this on two totally different systems with the same results. I'm confused. If someone could ask me a few questions, I'll be happy to answer so that I can start this from scratch again. The reason I need to is that I originally started to index the 10028 sites with 256 hops and unlimited files. Needless to say, this went on and on for weeks without finishing but certainly using up a lot of drive space. Mike
