A question about the ...,... symbol - ...,... symbol
understanding and encoding
problem in the SEQUENCE type case:
How to encode ...,... ?
                                ------

ISO/IEC 8650-1: 1996/Amd.1: 1997 standard uses for the
AARQ APDU the ...,...
symbol, in the 15 th position.

What does this symbol represent ?

In the ASN.1 - Communication between Heterogeneous
Systems book writen by
Olivier Dubuisson, june 5th 2000, it is written at the
page 249 un paragraph
about this symbol placement inside a SEQUENCE.
" The extension root is then decomposed into two parts
(until the first
extension marker, and then after the second one).
Extensions are inserted, one
after the other, before the second extension marker
that may appear anywhere in
a SEQUENCE, SET or CHOICE type. These types remain
nevertheless extensible only
in one place at a time (namely immediately before the
second marker), i.e.:
there can be at most two extension markers in a
constructed type."
In the past, it was represented by the syntaxe :
SEQUENCE {...}.

Does it mean that new SEQUENCE components may be
inserted inside a new version
of a SEQUENCE definition ?
How to code this kind of "double extension marker" ?
Does it work as an extension marker ? i.e.: only need
to add a bit set to 0 or 1
at the beginning of the APDU (e.g.) encoding ?
What is the standard or amendement that specifies this
symbol properties ?
(Because nothing is written about it inside: ISO/CEI
8824-1:1995/ Amd.1:1996
nore in the ISO/CEI 8825-2 (1996) standard about the
encoding rule.

All information that may help me about these problems
is welcome.

Sincerely,

Laurent ROBERT
