as far as i understand  if you set your recordset = nothing it destroys the variable 
and there is no need for the rst.close comand but i am not 100% sure so this is kind 
of a question answer type thing.

  After creating the recordset you must close it by doing something like this

  rst.close
  Set rst = Nothing

  This closes the reocrdset and deltes the vairable from the memory.
