If you have anti-virus software running on the PC that has the .mdb file,
then the anti-virus software may be locking the .mdb file.

Anti-virus software can be a real problem for .mdb files, especially if the
file is quite large.

Most anti-virus packages scan .mdb files by default, because .mdb files can
pick up macro viruses.

If your .mdb file is used as a back-end only, and does not ever opened in
Access, then you don't need to worry about whether it gets infected with a
macro virus - the viral code will only be executed if you open the file in
Access.

To verify that anti-virus software is the problem, switch off your
anti-virus software on the server and then re-boot the server, and then
attempt to delete the .mdb file. If successful, you need to change your
anti-virus options to exclude .mdb files.

Adelle.
