I would say HTML is more of the interface.  ASP is the code that retrieves and 
updates the information and is never seen by the end user.

 
Anyway, ASP will do what you need it to.
 
Google "ASP tutorials", pick up a book and ask a lot of questions here!  There 
will be plenty of help on this list.
