Maybe a page that posts back to itself in a certain time interval. It also passes a pair like http://www.gallery.com?ShowImage=Image in a get or post which would increment to the next image each post back. As far as the array and the images it would have to be loaded on the first access and most likely using the filesystemobject. Just some ideas.
