The best way to do it is to include a "%" in the sql query
example:
dim sql
sql= "SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE serialnum LIKE 'A100%' "
The "LIKE" in the query is a part of sql reserve word that tells the
query to search for where the data in the DB matches the requested
one.
