Well, Don't I feel like a fool, since posting, I found the problem. I
had somehow renamed the unique id field in my copy of the database, so
when I downloaded a fresh copy to test, the whole process failed.

P.S. 
To answer your question, no it wasn't the only SQL code, and I guess
that could have caused all sorts of problems, but luckily, it didn't.
