You can't stop a user from typing whatever they wish into the address
bar. If you want to restrict access to the PDFs you can put them in a
folder which isn't under the web root, and therefore not accessible by
typing the address in the browser, and then you can stream the files
through an ASP file to control how / when users download them. For more
information there are loads of links on google for "ADO Stream" or
"ADODB.Stream"

Is there a way to disallow a client from typing in a url to a specific 
file in the Browser's address bar and having the file displayed (such 
as a PDF). I can't disable read access on the folder because my ASP's 
need to access this folder.
