[Aspell-user] Changing .bak suffix

Is it possible to change the backup suffix from ".bak" to "~" somehow? I 
believe this would fit better with other GNU programs which use that 
suffix (and coreutils ls which can hide things ending in "~" with 
--ignore-backups).
