You can buy SQL Server 2005 Development edition for less than $50 on amazon.com.

As far as I know it is 100% identical to a full production copy and just licensed for development

Use instead of production use.

Anyone wonder why SQL Server is so reasonably priced for developers while Visual Studio is

So damn expensive??

I don't think SQL Server Express includes SQL Server Management Studio. SQL Server Management Studio Express can be downloaded for free at http://url123.com/9c9xd and it will allow you to manage your databases.

Hi all,

I recently downloaded the free version of SQL Server 2005.  I am running Windows XP Pro.  I also downloaded Visual Studio 2005.  The Visual Studio 2005 works fine.  But when I click on SQL Server 2005 on my Programs menu, the only option is SQL Configuration.  I want to create a new database but I must have missed something in the download.  Anyone know what I could have done wrong?

Thanks,

Bob
