Thanks for the reply.  I've modified the code to use a method that
strips out the current value from the old,new  postback data format. I
never figured out why this is happening... so I worked around it. One
thing I did notice, however, is that the button click event fires 2X
!.. I checked for duplicate handlers, but there is only 1. I also
tried deleting the handler from the page generated code section - the
event still fired (surprisingly) AND it still fired twice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
