Not sure if this is the cause of each item you listed, but I'm pretty sure that the first item in your list: Before that, I got the same message except it also said something about "...strong sapwd...switch sapwd..." Is caused by not changing the default (blank) password for the sa account. Try installing it again and assign a password a value, a strong alphanumeric password(maybe a "special character" or two as well). In the past I've noticed that you can download MSDE from a few different places, sometimes the directions suck and other times they're clear.
