The services could be running on a 'headless" server or an unattended
server so services are not allowed to have message boxes. Your service
could post progress messages in a Database or XML file then a Winforms
app or web Page could watch and display the messages.

The service cannot have a ui ever. A ui with a message box must be a
separate program tightly couled to the services progress storage.
Ideally the separate program would run on server or totally different
box (so progress could be monitored from anywhere).
