Highlights include...
Using DotNetNuke 2.1.x for Content Management
Speaker: Joe Brinkman (TAG Software, Inc. & DataSource, Inc.)
DotNetNuke is an open-source content management portal framework written in ASP.NET.
With over 80,000 registered users it is by far one of the most popular open-source
projects for the Microsoft platform. Upon installation it provides point-and-click
functionality to dynamically create custom portal content to meet almost any need.
Among some of its many features include skinning, plug-and-play module installation,
role-based security, multiple portals served from a single site, and WYSIWYG content
editing.
This session will start out by giving an overview of DotNetNuke, its history and its
community ideals. Then we will dive into the basics of installing your own DNN Portal
and administrating your membership and content. Finally we will dive into more
technical topics including the creation and installation of skins as well as the
development and deployment of private assembly custom modules.
Joe Brinkman, formerly the founder and President of TAG Software Inc, is the Chief
Technology Officer for DataSource Inc., a J2EE development company focused on
simplifying and automating development of N-Tier applications with Java. With over 22
years of IT experience and a Computer Science degree from the United States Naval
Academy, he possesses a broad range of experience and expertise in a variety of
software and hardware architectures. Having worked with DotNetNuke since February
2003, and a founding Core Team member, Joe currently serves as a member of the
DotNetNuke Board of Directors, a Lead Architect and Security Specialist.
Exception and Performance Monitoring of .NET Applications in Production Environments
Speaker: Alex Zakonov (AVICode)
Supporting .NET applications in a production environment is a challenging task. The
standard development tools as debuggers and profilers can not be used in operations
scenarios and special sets of tools and skills are required for effective resolution
of production issues. The presentation will cover techniques and methods for
discovering and analyzing critical application errors in operations. The presentation
will also demonstrate how AVIcode Intercept Studio and MOM 2005 help developers to
deliver a manageable application.
Alex Zakonov is a Chief Architect at AVIcode Inc. AVIcode offers unique innovative
solution for production
monitoring of applications developed on .NET framework. Alex's main area of expertise
is software manageability. Through the multiple years in software industry he worked
on multiple mission critical systems, first as software engineer, later as software
architect. Alex was involved not only in development side of those projects, but also
in operations and support side. That gave him unique prospective on interconnections
between development and operations and on what it takes to have a successful
manageable system. His involvement with manageable systems spans across multiple
vertical industries including
monitoring software for energy management, data processing software for
telecommunication industry, business
automation software for legal industry. That experience resulted in the creation of
AVIcode software, which is based
on unique patent pending inventions in software monitoring. Currently, Alex is
actively involved with Microsoft
products groups in the area of software manageability. He works with Windows
Management team for operations
aspects of software manageability and with Visual Studio Team System Team for
development aspects. That work
led to the offering for Addison Wesley to write a book "Designing Software for
Manageability" that outlines industry
direction for the manageable software.
Avoid Broken Links with Speerio's UrlRedirector
Speaker: Gary Pupurs (Planet 3K)
Renaming files on a website or shifting backends to a new CMS often results in
different URLs across your site. This causes external links to break, frustrating
your users and reducing your website traffic. We'll take a quick look at a free tool
that can be quickly installed on any .NET website and used to handle these needs,
whether you need to migrate systems, had to change a filename, or just need shorter
links to your CMS.
Gary Pupurs is founder/owner of Planet 3K and Communications Manager at Integrative
Strategies Forum, a non-profit in Rockville MD. His company, Planet 3K, develops
collaborative software solutions for the .NET platform. Gary currently serves as
President of WinProTeam Rockville, and has been using ASP.NET since the beta days of
2001 ("ASP+ anyone?"). Previously he has worked at Social & Health Services, Ltd., and
the Population Studies Center at the University of Michigan, where he received B.S.
degrees in Economics and International Studies. Gary is also a board member for
SustainUS youth network and an active real estate investor.

tools he has been using, including GMail, WilsonWebForm, and others.
