Thanks to Joe Brinkman for a great presentation tonight in Vienna. He introduced us
to DotNetNuke, a popular open source web content editing/management system, and showed
how to develop a custom module, and gave us a sneak peek at some cool new features in
DNN 3.0, due out very soon ("when it's done", but likely somewhere between a few weeks
and the end of the year).
I doing some searching for an unrelated DNN topic, I ran across the following blog,
which partly answers one of my questions I asked tonight (which was, "are there any
preliminary 3.0 references for module builders who are currently working with 2.0 but
want to keep in mind what changes will be necessary for 3.0")
DotNetNuke 3.0: Breaking Changes for Module Developers
http://lucaslabs.net/blogs/mccullochs/archive/2004/10/10/1115.aspx
Scott McCulloch highlights what are the six key changes that most developers will have
to change in DNN 2.x modules... I'm sure there will be several other more obscure
changes for some very customized modules, but this is a good reference point for the
bulk of simple data modules out there that people may build.
