Team System is actually a series of components targeted to different
roles within software development.
* Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Architects
* Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Developers
* Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Testers
* Visula Studio Team Suite (which incorporates all of the above)
There used to be a wiki here: http://www.3leaf.com/wiki/
In a nutshell this gives you:
SQL Server based "Enterprise Level" source control system (Developer
Tools division is supposed to dogfood this once 2.0 is released aka
whidbey).
Unit Testing Framework.
White horse and other architecture tools.
Static and dynamic code analysis.
You're supposed to be able to implement a series of rules to enforce
your development process:
You can't check in code unless it is assigned against a bug or open
request, you can't check in your code if unit tests or FxCop fail,
etc.
It's putting all the various pieces together and having it update
project schedules (in project and excel) and a bunch of other stuff.
The key is it's all integrated.
Vishwas Lele had a 160 slide deck about this, there were about 2 hours
of video demos that came out after TechEd last year.
