Hi Anupam:
Your concerns about the lungi-menace is far less important to the
people whose lives and livelihoods are dependent on the
life-sustaining yet destructive Brahmaputra river.
Only people who have secured their lifestyles and are now seeking
to consolidate their religion based political plurality in an
abomination of the concept of a secular democracy, could place a
higher importance on the politics of religion over lives and
livelihoods.
BTW, what is your plan for stemming the tide of illegal b'deshi
migration? I mean other than complaining? Where do you see a solution?
Certainly the Assamese have been complaining about it for over twenty
five years now. What happened? Seen any results so far? If not, what
is the problem? Who is failing in its duties? How do you see things
being turned around? Have you heard of the seasonal proposals for
work-permits without rights to land or voting? Does that make sense to
you? Or are you one of those who are into forming trishul brigades
to chase them the hell out of Assam?
If you can tell us something about those, it might make some
sense. Sitting on one's rear end and crying a sea of tears is
not about to stop the flow, don't you think?
Take care.

Dear All, I posted this inhand experience and observation so that we end up with a fruitful discussion on the bangladeshi issue. But I am really surprised to see that most of you have deviated from the central issue of the mail. When I said that our river islands are gone, I meant that apart from our mainland, our river islands too have gone to bangladeshi immigrants. Instead of discussing the bangladeshi problem which I feel is the mother of all problems in Assam, you guys ended up discussing about Majuli,Brahmaputra, river linking, RIL and what not. Think of it guys, it is this very attitude towards the bangladeshi issue which makes it today the most biggest threat to our assamese race. I dont care if Majuli is an island or not, I dont care about river linking. What I care about is that bangladeshi votes are the deciding factor in 26 assembly constituencies in Assam. If a true picture of the voter list is prepared ,we all assamese are a minority in Assam. Just think about it guys. Anupam Rajkhowa
