A dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the ULFA has virtually brought life to a standstill in Assam.
The bandh has been called to protest against the killing of nine people in a police firing at Kakopathar in Tinsukia.
Some shops opened in urban areas, but the shutdown affected most parts.
The All Assam Students Union (AASU) has also called for a statewide bandh on Tuesday.
