God works in mysterious ways. it seems that I would be able to file for the H-1B visa. The visa contractor had given me June 15th (today) as the deadline -for getting a full time job paying atleast $30,000 per year ($2500 per month) - I was happy with $12,000 p.a.
A Harvard Grad. Sch. of Education student who was running the educational institution earlier (before selling it to the current owner) interviewed me last month while studying at Harvard (she graduated this June). Both were considerate enough to help me meet the deadline for visa. I have been given a thick High School Chemistry book to prepare and I might take the Physics exam as well later.
I am planning to take PRAXIS 2 - High School Math exam for Teacher License - this August as well.

Umesh --I have looked over the SLI contract and it seems to be reasonable. I hope to speak with Mr. Raj today, at which point I think we can finalize things for your VISA application.I would like to offer you the position of Tutor with ********** at an annual salary of $30,000, contingent on your passing at least 1 of the science competency tests by the end of August. The tutoring work week is generally from 2:30 to 10:00pm Monday to Thursday, and 2:30 to 5:30 on Fridays. This accounts for 31 hours of tutoring each week. The remaining 9 hours each week is time expected to be used for professional development, including prep work for tutoring sessions, preparing for new subject tests, cross-training colleagues at ********, staff meetings, increasing skills and knowledge about tutoring in general including brain development, learning disabilities, etc. This prep work does not have to be done on site, however it should be accounted for on your time sheet. You are always welcome to do your non-tutoring work at the Center, however it is not required.Due to the nature of academic tutoring, additional hours are required during during semester finals. This occurs in two forms: the first is teaching Exam Review Classes on weekends in early January, late May and early June. The second is being available for additional 1-1 tutoring.Your annual salary this year won't change depending on the greater number of subject tests you pass (unlike the way it works for our part time tutors). The main reason for this is that by having an annual salary you will have several benefits not available to part time employees, including paid holidays, paid vacation and full payment during the summer months when there is a significant slow down in tutoring demand. If we both agree to have you continue to work for ******* for a second year, I anticipate increasing your salary to somewhere in the $33,000 - $35,000 range.I am excited about having you become part of the **** team and look forward to hearing from you!Sincerely,**************Owner, ********
