Yes Mukul-da,

Bio-gas from cow-dung is an option but will still lose out of the enormous 500 liter cow-methane coming out in the air from its behind --right into atmosphere--creating global warming!

First we need plenty of feed and grass and good plentiful water.

Then we need bigger breed cows and organized cattle-meat-milk-leather farms/ industries.

Then part of the Gobar can give a little bit of cooking gas and a little fertilizing sludge.

If all of America's cowshit is tapped- you might get just 1% of  US's space heating fuel needs.

And in cold days  no methane comes out of the cowshit gas generator!
Biodiesel is ONE  small help. In Oxom we have the "Bhoat Aeara" or Bhot Era  planted to demarcate properties. And the Castor whose tender leaves is prime food for Eri(Endii) caterpillar. Seeds of these do yield some oil-needing trans esterification by Alcohols before using as biodiesel.

how about gobar-gas or bio-gas? I was reading in a US Middle Shool sciecne book that in one day the micro organisms in a cow's stomach help produce (and release :-)   500 (five hundred!!) liters of methane (carbon tetrahydride ?). Methane is used as fuel ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methane ) in vehices and cooking (CNG buses etc in Delhi and elsewhere) .

So how to harness this cow methane   (see thrid para http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/01/0111_060111_plant_methane_2.html )  -being released from the rear end? India having the largest catle population in the world can benefit the most --maybe cowboys can give tips -any takers?
