Hi, I have been wondering about the crazy 4 feet high brownskinned guy I met outside the Sikh temple -at the bus stop who insisted on talking to me and convincing me of his ideas' supremacy.
The discussion did raise one point : about the most famous Indian widow of 70s and now -- mother and wife of Rajiv Gandhi -respectively (Indira and Sonia Gandhi). Rajiv was killed by LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elum) demanding Tamilian homeland in Sri Lanka. This crazy 4 footer with Einsteinian hair-style -long white standing hair and lng white moustache -- called himself a supporter and (even) policy advisor of LTTE. He said that the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had trained and supported LTTE and only after her son (then ex Indian PM) was murdered by suicide bomb attack by a female LTTE agent (see the movie "The Terrorist" on her actions as I did at Harvard Univ's Lamont Library) . http://thetalkativeman.blogspot.com/2005/12/terrorist1997.html Indira Gandhi was a widow who becme Indian Prime Minister (first woman in Asia --in 1970s --NOT 1930s ) and her daughter in Law Sonia -is currently (NOT 1930s as in the Candian govt movie -Water shows of life of Indian widows in 1937 -before British were kicked out of India) the most powerful human being in India -only due to her Italian origin (and Italian laws) she is prevented from becoming Indian PM. Coming back: I told the guy that Indira also supported Bhindrawale and his separatists but attacked the Sikh holy place Golden Temple whose pictures adorn the Vancouver Sikh temple (which was just behin us then) to get to him. So I do not care what Indira did. Then, he tried to fuel my hate against Pakistan or maybe hook me up based on his perception that I would certainly hate Pak -and so would Sri Lanka becos it helped Pak in 1971 Indo-Pak war when Bangladesh was created under Indira Gandhi's rule in India. I said then u should hate USA also since it is supposed to have sent its naval 5th fleet in Bay of Bengal to help Pak then. Oh! CIA trained me -he said - at their base 30 miles from Washington DC -he said West Virginia. I am American trained. It was good that I am staying with a saintly couple who is neither Indian nor follow any Indian faith --since he could not brow beat in to any way --he could not make me share his vision at all. I could (and did) say I neither care that you are from my faith nor that you are of Indian origin. The most surprising thing he said was in the bus after I told him that I had a master's degree from harvard Univ and would be going t teach school students in Washington DC . He asked : What is the best education? US (me) : You mean the best school system? He: OK US: I think the Scottish system is developing into the best one. He: It is the CASTE SYSTEM!! US: Oh my God! Then we cannot have anything in common at all - I totally disagree with you. He: It is only now that there is job shortage that problems have started. US: My father and I have been involved in social integration activities and go to social gatherings of Valmikis (sweeper community) in India and want equal rights --including caste -free Hindu priesthood. He: 3500 years ago there was no global communication, no travel so the caste system was a viable system -doesn't a doctor want his son to be a doctor? US: I think you must visit India (he was born in Malaysia and said that his cousin -a Harvard MBA -set up the world's tallest building -Petronex Towers there from oney earned by selling oil to Japanese) and spend atleast 5 years there to see the ill-effects of caste system NOW . He: Doesn't a doctor want his son to be doctor? US: How abbout a janitor wanting a son to be a doctor? He: Being a janitor is not a bad job (Janitor is American word for toilet cleaning guy) I did it myself. US: I have taught children of Latino illegal immigrants in DC who do not want their children to be janitors like them -but become educated and get better jobs He: If children don't like thei parents' jobs they should murder their parents. US: You are being totally illogical! My bus stop. So I got down and came home. I could have expected a similar conversation somewhere in a small rural town in India --but now in Vancouver, Canada - the best city to live on earth!! Any comments?
