GUWAHATI, Feb 12 – As in previous years, this time too the Hyderabad-based
Assam Association named ‘Looitporia’ celebrated Bhogali Bihu in the Charminar
city on February 4 at the Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Botanical Gardens of
Kondapur, an e-mail release informed.

Bhogali Bihu was celebrated in the presence of 170 Assamese as well as
non-Assamese persons.

With various group games/cultural programme like tekeli bhonga, musical chair,
mukoli Bihu, modern song performance by Nayanika Hazarika, performance by
Dhiraj Borpujari, Bimal Bhattacharya, Bihu dance by Sanju Gogoi, Babita

The celebration showcased the true spirit of the Assamese community who are
living thousands of kilometres away from their native land. The main
attraction, however, was the various delicious dishes prepared and served to
the people.

At the end of the celebration, Bimal Bhattacharya, secretary of Asom

competitions held on that day.

For the record, ‘Looitporia’ is the backbone of the Assamese community in
Hyderabad. It is a non-profit, non-commercial social organisation, which was
set up in April 2002 during the Rongali Bihu at Dr S Saharia’s clinic at
Panjagutta. It was registered on March 21, 2003 under the Andhra Pradesh
Society. Dr S Saharia was the president, Bimal Bhattacharya was the VP and Dr
Arup Jyoti Kalita was the general secretary of that time.

The main aim and objective of Looitpuria’s is Socio cultural development, to
develop the culture of Assam as well as NE and to help the patients in all
possible way coming from Asom as well as all North Eastern state to Hyderabad
for better treatment.

It was extends help to the students coming from NE to Hyderabad for higher
study by providing necessary information, besides providing service as well as
necessary information to the people coming to Hyderabad.
