Undertrial escapes from Karimganj govt hospital

 HAILAKANDI, March 12 – An undertrial inmate has escaped from the Karimganj 
government hospital recently, police sources said. 

Dilwar Hussain (27),was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his wife 
after seven months of marriage, by the District & Sessions Judge of Karimganj 
on April 5, 2006 last. The Karimganj police superintendent has suspended 
constable Jamal Uddin for negligence of duty. Jamal was on duty in the hospital 
when Dilwar escaped. 

Police sources informed that Dilwar suddenly felt uneasy and started screaming 
on the night of February 26 last. The jail doctor suggested the authorities to 
admit him to the hospital. But after few days he escaped. According to sources, 
Dilwar told Jamal that he wanted to go out for toilet, when his mother and 
sister were also present in the hospital. Constable Jamal allowed but he got 
suspicious when he did not return after a long time and immediately informed 
the headquarter. 

It may be mentioned here that Dilwar’s father Kamar Uddin was also sentenced to 
life imprisonment along with him for killing wife Rukia Begum after seven 
months of marriage at their residence in Balia in Karimganj district for dowry. 
Father Kamar Uddin is still in jail.
